Staff Profiles

Denise Monroe

Denise has been with the Community School of SAU 50 since it began in 2004. As Child Find Coordinator and special education teacher, Denise not only co-teaches in the program, she is responsible for coordinating all special education services. Denise came to SAU 50 with over twelve years experience teaching in the early education and special education field. Denise holds a New Hampshire Experienced Educator certificate as well a certificate in both Elementary and General Special Education. She did her undergraduate work at Westfield State College and received a Masters in Education from Notre Dame College. Denise is an active participant of PTAN (Preschool Technical Assistance Network) and a valuable resource for all SAU 50 early educators.

Alicia Tonelli

Alicia Tonelli has been with the Community School since March 2007 as the Program Director. As Program Director, Alicia is responsible for enrollment, programming, and staffing. Alicia is also the lead teacher in the preschool room. Alicia has worked in the field of early childhood education for twelve years. She has a Masters in Early Childhood Education from the University of New Hampshire, and a Bachelors degree in Business Management from Emmanuel College in Boston.

Dana McKenna

This is Dana's second year with us. Dana has a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences from the University of Vermont and a Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Syracuse University. She spent 8 years teaching in SAU 44 (Nottingham, Northwood, Strafford) working with a variety of children with phonological, language and auditory processing disorders, as well as children diagnosed with autism, Down's syndrome, genetic syndromes and visual impairments. Dana also worked for Early Support Services through Developmental Services of Strafford County. She has taught basic sign language to child care professionals and a summer long educational program on facilitating language development in early childhood. She is a member of the American and New Hampshire Speech Language Hearing Association Associations.

Jillian Grelle

Jillian Grelle is a physical therapist. She has an undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies from The University of Connecticut and her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from MGH Institute of Health Professions. Jillian's experience in physical therapy includes inpatient acute care and outpatient services with both pediatric and adult populations. In theschool environment Jillian's role is to evaluate and treat gross motor deficits such as coordination, balance, body awareness, and muscle tightness, weakness and stability. By addressing these deficits, Jillian works to enhance the student's independence of daily function as well as improve the student's ability to negotiate the school environment in a safe, timely and efficient manner. Jillian currently works with students in the Community Preschool of SAU 50 and the Rye and Newington Elementary
