School Administrative Unit 50 provides appropriate programs for English Language Learners (students who have limited English proficiency) to assist them in attaining English proficiency and meeting state and local academic achievement standards in compliance with applicable federal and state requirements. The School Administrative Unit also provides for opportunities for parent involvement in their children’s education as required by federal law.
The purpose of the ELL program is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments (per Public Law107–110).
